Fine-grained qt. this sink features authentic solid fine and ultra-fine fireclay. authentic fireclay is a semi-rare natural white clay containing higher concentrations of fine-grained qt. (silica) than typical ceramic (kaolin) clays
Fusing: when the silica-based glaze is applied (learn more about our glaze below) and then fired at extremely high temperatures， the silica of both the qt. and glaze fuse together， creating a single structure
Single structure: this "single structure" is what separates fireclay from typical/inexpensive ceramic products， which are fired at lower temperatures， exhibit little fusing， and are thin and/or hollow inexpensive structures
Base material: we source our fireclay base material from mines following reduced input/output (more sustainable) mining practices in Italy， France， and Israel， once at our factory in Turkey， the clay is mixed with just water， and is ready for production
Compression-molding: we begin with compression molding the sink shape via a 50，000 lbs. hydraulic press， creating an incredibly solid structure. next， in the first of 2 kilning’s， the sink is then low fired for 2 days， curing the molded substrate
Glazing: this sink features Fossil Blu's legendary silica-based glaze， which is robotically applied， allowing for up to twice the glaze thickness compared to hand-sprayed glazing techniques
High firing: during its 2nd kilning， the sink is fired at over 2200° the fusing occurs， creating a single qt. like material with a very high hardness rating， it's nearly indestructible and can never chip or "craze"
White RGB: our white finish is like appliance white， RGB value averages are as follows: R: 235， G: 235， B: 237， the consistent values means it has neither a warm nor cool tint， the high values means it is near perfect white (RGB each at 255)
Flat apron: Fossil Blu's flat-front farmhouse sinks provide a clean and classic look to updated kitchens， with no imprint， the rectangular shape is itself the design， a muted elegance， allowing for other kitchen elements to share the spotlight
Soft design: our fireclay sinks feature soft edges and a supple appearance to the front， characteristic of the natural material underneath
Thickness: at 7/8 in. thickness， this sink presents as a contemporary design and is therefore a neutral fit in a variety of kitchen stylistic themes， it's at home in both modern and rustic kitchens
Apron wrap: the left and right sides of the sink are fully finished， allowing for any install depth， we generally recommend 1-1/2 in. to 2 in. of the sinks to be exposed on the left and right sides
Included accessories: one (1) custom-fitted sink grid， one (1) basket strainer drain， and one (1) garbage-disposal flange， each of these three feature the neutral tones of stainless steel， matching stainless steel appliances
STAINLESS STEEL: By its nature， stainless steel is neither warm nor cool in hue; a true grayscale color. We do not alter this color with any coatings; it is raw stainless steel， which we brush to soften its sheen.
PEACE-OF-MIND: The removable grid protects your sink bottom. The basket strainer drain is provided for those not installing a garbage disposal， while the disposal flange is provided for those who are installing a disposal.
CARE AND CLEANING: Fossil Blu fireclay sinks are incredibly durable， so whatever daily soap and/or cleaner (incuding nylon scouring pads/sponges) you normally use is the same cleaner you can keep right on using in your Fossil Blu sink.
CHEMICAL CLEANERS: Our quartz-like finish means should you ever see hard-water mineral buildups or other such deposits， semi-abrasive chemical cleaners such as Comet or Bar Keepers Friend are fine to use in moderation. They will not hurt the finish.
